Last Thursday, the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa) presented a study showing that health insurers need to do more to provide needed care to their insureds on time.
Waiting lists in mental health care are also too long in many cases. Bottlenecks mentioned are labor market problems and a lack of insight into current waiting times. The NZa has sent a letter to all health insurers with points for improvement so that they can work on them in the coming period. In mental health care, it is essential to be able to place and treat people in a timely manner. For clients with a personality disorder, for example, waiting times can be as much as six months after intake.
Getting the right care quickly at U-center
U-center, thanks to its special approach, manages to keep waiting times really limited. This is possible by offering short and intensive treatment, in a structured program of 6 weeks inpatient, followed by 8 weeks outpatient (when indicated). During this period, clients undergo a substantial change and are given tools to move forward. We treat clients with complex issues, usually a combination of depression, anxiety, trauma, substance dependence and personality problems. Our goal is a fast, but above all sustainable result.
U-center cooperates with several (large) health insurers, such as Zilveren Kruis, VGZ, CZ and ONVZ. We do this to reduce waiting times, to offer clients the right care at the right time and to simplify the registration process. Within two days we process an application and schedule an intake by telephone. Often the consultation takes place within one to three weeks. The start of treatment is scheduled by mutual agreement immediately after a positive indication in the consultation. During the waiting period a client can already start an online training, which is a good preparation for the treatment. Current waiting times can always be found on our website.
