Perhaps you want to quit to restore your physical health, to repair relationships or for other psychological and social reasons. For example, if this is always in the evening, think of an alternative for those times (such as calling a friend, going for a walk, exercising, having a nice drink without alcohol);<br>\u2022 Discuss your resolution with people around you, so they can help you drink less or stop drinking altogether;<br>\u2022 Did you drink too much one time? Then don't be disappointed in yourself. Then think about what triggered it and make a plan for what you can do differently next time.   <\/p><p>The biggest challenge, of course, is not to start using alcohol again. If you are looking for help to stop drinking alcohol, you can contact your general practitioner. Through the family doctor you can get support from the POH-GGZ (practice support person) to get rid of your alcohol addiction. The GP can also refer you to specialized outpatient care or inpatient care. Outpatient treatment can work to stop drinking, but is not always sufficiently effective.
